We are proud to announce we have been awarded a contract by Manchester Metropolitan University worth more than £2m a year for the provision of a Procurement Services and Stock System. The three-year agreement includes the option of a further three-year extension.
The contract will see the Pelican procurement team manage the University’s procurement and supply chain needs associated with the purchase of food, beverages, and related consumables.
Furthermore, Pelican will also be providing a back-office-system to help the University efficiently manage their internal processes associated with their catering operation, across the whole campus.
Manchester Metropolitan University is a modern university, with roots in higher education that date back to 1824. Located in the global city of Manchester, the University works closely with partners, businesses, the community and academic peers – locally, nationally and on the international stage.
The University operates 12 catering outlets providing a range of offers from full meal service to grab and go refreshments, serving up to 34,000 students and 4,500 staff on site and in addition meeting the needs of the hospitality and conference trade throughout the year.Over the course of 2020, the University will upgrade and modernise both its catering till and stock systems, having recently tendered and awarded contracts for both. Initially, the University was looking for a stock system, which would enable improvements to its back of house processes and to gain greater control and visibility over its purchasing; Pelican’s award-winning cloud-based management system, Pi, appeared to provide the perfect solution.
Phil Scott, Head of Commercial Services at Manchester Metropolitan University, said: “We are pleased to have appointed Pelican to provide catering procurement services, supply chain management and back office systems.
“We are confident that Pelican’s knowledge and innovative solutions will complement our existing teams’ skills and experience enabling us to enhance the customer experience, refine and improve our processes and significantly improve our performance across all of our services.”
Franco Scannella, Managing Director at Pelican Procurement Services said, “We are delighted to partner with Manchester Metropolitan University. Our team are very proud to be able to support the University in enhancing their catering and hospitality service for both students and visitors, utilising our supply chain expertise and Pi system to provide visibility, control and drive efficiencies through their catering operation.”
