Greensleeves Care held a Nutrition Seminar to launch their Nutrition and Wellbeing Working Group – an initiative to improve the health and wellbeing of Greensleeves’ residents through good nutrition and hydration.
The event, held at Greensleeves’ head office in London on Tuesday 25th September, was attended by 20 care home managers and catering staff.
Pelican's Company Dietitian, Anna-Maria Holt, put together a bespoke interactive session focusing on the topic Nutrients at Risk in Older People Living in Care. This session was presented by Anna-Maria and included a number of activities to get the group thinking about practical ways of incorporating key nutrients into a menu and promoting hydration within a care home setting. This session highlighted a number of strategies that the new working group will take forward including the need to develop a menu checklist.
Anna-Maria says, “Older people living in care are at risk of developing nutritional related problems. Ensuring staff are nutritionally aware and have the knowledge and practical techniques to help and support appropriate food intake and hydration will help maintain good health and wellbeing among Care Home residents. It is great to see Greensleeves setting up a working Group that will champion improvement in nutrition and hydration in their homes.”
Greensleeves say, “Improving the quality of health and wellbeing of our residents is paramount to what we do. We are always looking for new ways to improve our food offering and keep our residents happy and healthy. To promote the highest standards across all our homes, we have set up the Nutrition and Wellbeing Working Group which work together to achieve our goals.”
