Company Statement about Coronavirus

by Simona Hardy 17 March 2020

Pelican Procurement Services are working hard to ensure that we provide up to date advice and information to our clients and colleagues during the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak.

We are monitoring both UK Government health advice and following any official guidance announced by the Government.

The following measures have been put in place to protect Pelican employees:-

To date Pelican have no reported cases of employees being infected with the virus, however as the government has suggested it is likely that there will be a significant number of new infections over the coming weeks and months. In order to allow Pelican to continue without significant impact to our clients and the ongoing wellbeing of our staff, we have put in place additional measures. These include:

- Restricting face to face business meetings with clients and suppliers to essential meetings only

- Encouraging the team to carry out all meetings remotely

- Where possible encouraging the team to work from home

- Requesting that staff do not come to work if they feel unwell, especially if their symptoms are similar to Covid-19

- If they feel unwell and with symptoms of Covid -19 ensure that they self-isolate appropriately as per Government guidance

- Ensuring that all staff have a detailed back to work interview following sickness absence

- Requesting that staff advise us of any trips to high risk countries and self-isolate if required

The following measures have been implemented to ensure our Client’s supply chain requirements are not adversely affected: -

- Pelican are in regular contact with the main food and non-food distributors so that we are able to provide up to date supplier information relating to Covid -19. This will enable us to source alternative supply arrangements should this be necessary.

- Communicating with suppliers to ensure that they have a business continuity plan in place.

- Ensuring that suppliers have contingency plans in place wherever possible, should they need to source alternative products due to high customer demand.

- Ensuring that suppliers have hygiene practices in place in order to reduce the chance of their staff becoming infected by Covid -19.

As you are aware this is an ever-changing situation and we are reviewing the situation on a daily basis and will keep you updated with any new communication as appropriate.
