So what’s the job?

You will join our amazing Sales team and report to our Head of Sales – Pelican Professional Procurement. In this role you will support our two Head of Sales and their teams on targeted new business development. Your role is to drive business growth by securing new business opportunities and appointments by identifying high quality leads, proactively establishing relationships with multi stakeholder decision makers in partnership with the field sales team and marketing.

Key responsibilities

New Business Sales Plan

  • Contribute to the development of the business sales strategy by gathering and interpreting clients’ needs and wants, market changes and trends.
  • Document all leads and opportunities in our CRM system
  • Work closely with marketing team to develop appropriate innovative collateral to target new business areas using a range of communication channels. Partner with marketing to evaluate the effectiveness of the collateral and channels and act where necessary to ensure maximum impact is achieved
  • Be the focal point for all incoming new business opportunities, by establishing a need for our services, gaining a deep insight to clients’ challenges and matching the relevant service from Pelican
  • Agree appointments with potential clients to enable the sales team to progress the new business opportunity and relationship
  • work closely with the sales team on new business opportunities, ensuring roles and responsibilities on pipeline opportunities are clear and documented in our CRM

New Clients

  • Actively support business initiatives and strategies for expanding into new markets, as well as continued expansion in existing sectors
  • Self-generate sales leads through proactive use of a range of approaches including social media and CRM
  • Encourage and coach others to generate leads, where identified by others, proactively pursue these providing feedback to the generator on progress
  • Where our offering is unrecognised, actively work to generate interest and a genuine need. Share regular feedback to the business on progress made and learnings
  • Develop a collaborative approach to engaging prospective clients through the sale
  • Encourage open dialogue between the client and relevant members of the Pelican team, ensuring actions are owned and resolved within agreed timescales
  • Maintain an accurate and in-depth knowledge and understanding of the operational capabilities of Pelican’s e-Procurement Systems and procurement service offering
  • Provide feedback from prospective and current clients on future requirements

  • Experience of meeting targets and cold calling
  • Strong research skills and a natural curiosity to find things out
  • Experience in selling to multiple stakeholders
  • Competent in using Word, Excel, Databases and CRM working environment
  • You will be an effective networker and have a passion for building relationships
